PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Colorado approved Amendment 20 in November 2007, legalizing medical marijuana use for qualifying patients. Later in 2012, Colorado Amendment 64 legalized the sale and possession of marijuana for adults 21 years of age and up. The Colorado Department of Revenue recently released the state’s first annual report since the state legalized retail marijuana sales and there are over 2000 establishments medical and retail combined with over 100,000 registered patients.

QUALIFYING MEDICAL CONDITIONS

Cancer, Glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, A chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition other than HIV, cancer or glaucoma; or treatment for such conditions, which produces for a specific patient one or more of the following, and for which, in the professional opinion of the patient’s physician, such condition or conditions may reasonably be alleviated by the medical use of marijuana: Cachexia, Severe pain; Severe nausea; Seizures, including those that are characteristic of epilepsy, Persistent muscle spasms, including those that are characteristic of multiple sclerosis.
